Being the purveyors of fashion that we are, we love a good runway show. Many of the runway trends trickle down into boutique styles, so staying on top of the current trends is pretty important to us (after all, we want to keep our shoppers in the latest and greatest!). However, some of the runway styles can be a bit hard to translate into everyday wear that is suitable for work, fun or school. Today, we will show you how to make the hottest runway trends ultra-livable:
Dramatic Statement Earrings. Many designers, including Oscar de la Renta and Marchesa, had super-sized version of the tassel earring in their recent fashion shows. These were just some of the dramatic and over-the-top pieces…no tiny, dainty styles here! You can wear a toned-down version of the tassel earrings with a tank and shorts to add a stylish, eclectic touch to a simple outfit. Find our adorable gold and black pair HERE. Designer Tom Ford showed off lots of jumbo sized baubles in his Spring collection, especially eighties-inspired chandeliers and sparkly hoops. You can channel that fun spirit with a more subtle pair like our Maya Chandelier Earrings.
Florals: Saint Laurent and Dolce and Gabbana both had head to toe floral prints in their shows, and while we know it’s not a new trend, it’s one that always looks so classy and polished. Some of our newest styles feature florals, like our Isle of the Flowers Maxi, with it’s lace-edged detail, and strappy back, and the Make it Count Maxi which has an unique, crossover style bodice that we are totally swooning over. Add in some sturdy, neutral sandals, and either floral number can take you from brunch with your girls to your summer classes.
Lavender: This is a really hot color this season, and several designers added the dreamy hue to their lineups, including Michael Kors. If you’re looking for an easy to way to add the fun color to your own wardrobe, try this swingy A-line dress. It’s got loads of potential: with Saltwater sandals for a day at the lake, paired with wedges and fancy earrings for dinner out with friends and family, or with a denim jacket layered over it for a baseball game this summer. It’ll quickly become your go-to swing dress (it also has POCKETS, which means you can stash your phone and keys without an extra bag. We call that a win.)
Athleisure/workout items: Céline and Isabel Marant introduced lots of cool tops and jackets with workout details (drawstrings, strappy camis, and tonal zippers). You can incorporate this trend by mixing a half-zip workout jacket with jeans, or adding a dressier top to your black yoga leggings. If you’re looking for a athletic-inspired bralette that you can use for yoga or under an open-back sundress, we have one that comes in a whopping NINE colors, and is under $10! We also have the On the Right Track Jacket, that looks perfect with vintage sneakers and jeans, even if you skip the gym (shhhhhhh, we won’t tell!)
Bright Pink: The bubble-gum pink trend made an appearance, thanks to Missoni, and it’s the perfect time to wear a pretty shade with a summer tan. If you’re worried the color is too “young” or childlike, make sure the cut or style you’re donning is age appropriate and go for a clean, structured dress with an unique neckline like THIS ONE, or stick with a small pop of color in a neutral baseball cap. A pink cap looks great with distressed jeans and a white tee for a never-fail, classic look that you can do errands or shopping in.
